NOTES ON THE CURRICULUM OUTLINE

• Prerequisites are required for admission into a course.
• Students who meet the Preferred qualifications are given admission preference over students who do not.
• Pinewood's Music program meets and exceeds the University of California's Visual & Performing Arts requirements. Including Humanities, Pinewood requires 1.5 years of Arts courses. The University of California requires one year.
• Students earn the Pinewood Master Musician Award (Pinewood's highest musical distinction) at the end of their Senior year by earning an A- or greater in all the following courses:
  • Humanities: Music
  • Music Fundamentals: Why Music Rocks
  • Western Music History: Too Many Notes
  • 2 years of a Pinewood performance ensemble (The Divas and/or Pinewood Singers)
  • SWARM: Students Writing And Recording Music
  • Advanced SWARM: Advanced Students Writing And Recording Music
• Master Musicians leave Pinewood with a firm grounding in:
  • Music Fundamentals (Music Fundamentals)
  • Western Music History (Humanities, Music Fundamentals & Western Music History)
  • Performance (2 years in The Divas and/or Pinewood Singers, SWARM & Advanced SWARM)
  • Composition & Record Production (SWARM & Advanced SWARM)
